How to Increase Hair Growth after Transplant

Medical science has made a lot of advancement in this modern era of technology. Baldness in men and women now has a Permanent solution in hair transplants. New technologies have made this surgical procedure a totally scar-less, painless and stitch-less operation. In fact, one can return to the normal routine after 24 hours.

What happens after the transplant?

Hair transplant is a procedure where hair follicles are extracted from the permanent zone of the scalp or body hair like beard and transplanted into the bald area. It is done by the FUT method or the FUE hair Transplant method. In the FUE method, individual follicles are harvested instead of strip. After the transplant, the harvested follicles continue to grow for the first two to three weeks. But after that, some hair fall starts. This is called shock loss. This occurs due to the stress or the shock that the hair follicles receive during the hair transplant procedure.

How slow or fast does the hair grow?

The whole transition of getting uprooted from its original place to getting grafted in a new area is indeed traumatic for the hair follicle, though temporarily. Slowly, the hair roots or the stem cells are accepted by the recipient area. The hair shafts get lost but the follicles remain intact. The hair growth is slow after the hair transplantation due to the initial shock loss. In 3 to 4 months’ time, growth occurs at a steady pace.

What is the quality of the new hair growth?

In the beginning, the hairs that sprout are very fine and thin. But in due course of time, a fuller and thicker hair growth take place. As a result by the end of 6 months, one gets an appreciable result wherein 50 to 60% follicles start growing hair. In all, it takes roughly around 9 to 12 months to get 100% growth in the transplanted follicles.
But if you do not take care it might take you a long time to get a thick and dense growth in the bald area.

Hormonal Imbalance

Hormones are the most common cause of hair loss for both women and men. ... a low or higher than normal level affects the hairline by miniaturizing hair follicles, which causes the hair to stop growing in a normal cycle of growth and fall. So, ask your doctor for hormone analysis and ways to keep them in check after the transplantation. Hormonal imbalance can occur in both males and females.

Food Intake

Follow a good diet regime full of minerals like iron, biotin, proteins, and vitamins. Increase the intake of fluids like shakes, lassi, coconut water and soups. Vegetables like tomatoes and bell peppers boost hair production and growth.

Lifestyle changes

Include exercises in your daily routine because it’s a great buster for stress which is the main cause of hair fall. The modern life has brought a lot of stressful conditions with it. But not to worry. A jog, brisk walking, yoga, and meditation are simple tools that give you a combination of a healthy mind and body. The health of the hair mysteriously depends a lot on what goes on in the brain!

Oiling of the scalp

It can be very harmful if you use just any oil. On the contrary, oiling is very beneficial when the oil is virgin. Virgin oils are those oils that are obtained by organic compression of the fruit and not by using chemicals or filters. You get them in the market easily, for example, virgin coconut oil and virgin olive oil or castor oil. Do a patch test to find out any allergies.

Shampoo

If possible, use natural ingredients like curd, gram flour, shikakai, amla and reetha to wash hair and your hair would be safe and healthy.

Once, you check out and take care of all the above points of caution, you can rest assured of good and steady growth.
